In Natchez, Mississippi, on March 27, 2019, Cameron Nicholas Collier, a 40-year-old Caucasian male, was found deceased. His body was discovered in the parking lot of the Kingston Community Center. Collier was located inside his vehicle, lying on the floorboard with what authorities determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
At the time of the discovery, the investigation into his death was pending lab results.
However, law enforcement officials did not indicate any potential motive for the apparent suicide and no suspects were ever named or sought in connection with his death.
Prior to his death, Collier had been involved in a significant legal matter. In April 2013, he was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in the death of 91-year-old John H. Buckles. Collier's truck rear-ended Buckles' vehicle, causing it to flip. Following the incident, in April 2014, Collier was indicted for DUI causing death or mutilation. Despite the indictment, the case never proceeded to trial as the victim's family expressed their desire not to press charges. Consequently, the District Attorney's office did not pursue the case further.
