In the early evening of December 8, 2019, tragedy struck at the Azalea Trace apartment complex in Warren County, just outside of Vicksburg, Mississippi, where 19-year-old Kameron Logan of Jackson was fatally shot. A Black male, Logan was discovered lying outside an apartment by the Warren County Sheriff's Office who responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Rushed to Merit Health River Region, Logan underwent emergency surgery.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m. that same night. The Warren County Coroner, Doug Huskey, confirmed the cause of death and an autopsy was ordered to gather further details. The case was officially classified as a homicide.
The shooting of Kameron Logan was the second such incident at the Azalea Trace Apartments within a three-day span, leading investigators to believe the two events might be connected. A 17-year-old had been hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds in a separate shooting just days before Logan's death. The Warren County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Vicksburg Police investigators, worked both cases tirelessly, following up on several promising leads.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the belief that the shootings were linked, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the murder of Kameron Logan. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with his death.
