During this dispute, the vehicle, occupied by Guido, crashed into a trailer. After Guido exited the car, he was shot. He succumbed to his injuries a short time later at a local hospital. Harvey Lee Russell Jr., a resident of a nearby house, was tragically caught in the crossfire. He had been sitting on his porch when he heard the gunshots. It is believed he was shot after he went to investigate the source of the noise. In the days following the double homicide, authorities identified Roy Miller III and Andrego Gaston as suspects wanted in connection with the killings. It was also noted that Miller was already wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
