Born on September 29, 1994, he was a lifelong resident of the area and was known to be of the Catholic faith. Meza was a welder by trade, working for Koch Foods. He had a creative side, with a passion for drawing, and was an avid football fan. During his school years, he had been a talented athlete, excelling in various sports.
The circumstances surrounding Meza's death led to a swift investigation and a heart-wrenching arrest. In the days following his passing, law enforcement authorities took his sister, Erika Meza, into custody. She was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with her brother's death. It is alleged that she shot and killed him.
Following her arrest, Erika Meza was held in the Scott County Jail. In early May 2021, she appeared for a bond hearing but was denied bond, ensuring she would remain in custody as the legal proceedings against her commenced.
