In the early morning hours of December 3, 2021, the small town of Nettleton, Mississippi, was shaken by an outbreak of gun violence at the Roy Black Memorial Park that left two men dead. One of the victims was 19-year-old Keandra Johnson of Nettleton. The other man was identified as 45-year-old Nakeyce Bradford of Memphis. Johnson, a Black male, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
Bradford was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries around 1 a.m.
According to the Nettleton Police Chief, the initial investigation suggests that the two men shot each other. The motive for the exchange of gunfire was not immediately clear to investigators, leaving them with more questions than answers in the immediate aftermath. The bodies of both Johnson and Bradford were sent to Pearl for autopsies to aid in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released further details about what may have led to the fatal encounter between Johnson and Bradford. The case remains under investigation as law enforcement continues to piece together the events of that tragic morning. No arrests of any other suspects have been announced, as the current evidence points to the two deceased individuals being the sole participants in the shootout.
