In a tragic turn of events at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru in Clinton, Mississippi, 23-year-old Kendarius Vaughn, a male from Jackson, lost his life. On a Friday evening in February 2022, what began as a simple disagreement over a food order escalated into a fatal incident. Vaughn, who was driving, got into an argument with his brother, a passenger in the back seat.
During the dispute, Vaughn produced a handgun and began waving it.
In what was described by police as horseplay combined with the argument, he then turned the weapon towards his brother in the backseat. The brother grabbed Vaughn's arm in an attempt to push the gun away. It was in this struggle that the firearm discharged, striking Vaughn.
Immediately following the shooting, another passenger in the vehicle took the wheel and rushed Vaughn to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. The Clinton Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting. After conducting interviews and examining the evidence, authorities concluded that the shooting was a tragic accident resulting from carelessness with a weapon.
