In Jackson, Mississippi, a heated argument on Monument Street on Sunday, February 27, 2022, tragically cut short the life of 42-year-old Corey Dixon. A Black male, Dixon was a father and a man known for his easygoing nature and willingness to help others. That morning, a dispute with Stanisha Williams, the 32-year-old mother of his child, escalated to a fatal conclusion.
According to witnesses, Williams was in a blue SUV with two other unidentified individuals, a man and a woman, when
the argument with Dixon occurred. In the midst of the confrontation, a shot was fired. Dixon was struck, and the vehicle carrying Williams fled the scene. Emergency services arrived to find Dixon critically wounded. He was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and immediately taken into surgery. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Corey Dixon succumbed to his injuries the following day, on February 28, 2022.
The Jackson Police Department quickly identified Stanisha Williams as the primary suspect in the shooting. Following an investigation, she was arrested and charged with the murder of the father of her child. Williams was subsequently booked into the City Holding Facility as she awaited legal proceedings. The case highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic disputes.
