Bashar Ali Abublla Mohamed, a 17-year-old male, was working at the Exxon gas station on Highway 51 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, on the night of November 28, 2022, when his life was tragically cut short. In an act of violence, he was shot and killed during what appears to have been an armed robbery. The incident prompted an immediate and intensive investigation by the Crystal Springs Police Department.
Within days, law enforcement officials identified two suspects in the murder of the
young gas station employee. Arrest warrants for capital murder were issued for 27-year-old Datarius Mylik Jamall Boyd and 23-year-old Nhekhil Quajaylon Lamar Scott, both from Jackson. Authorities released their names to the public, warning that they should be considered armed and dangerous. Surveillance footage from the gas station reportedly captured one of the suspects, Boyd, leaving the store with a firearm in his hand at the time of the shooting.
The search for the suspects was swift. On December 3, 2022, Datarius Mylik Jamall Boyd was apprehended and booked into the Copiah County jail on a charge of capital murder.
