In the small town of Hoffman, Oklahoma, a lawman by the name of Thomas Newton Pearson met a violent and untimely end. A Deputy Sheriff, Pearson was 43 years old at the time of his death. On June 13, 1909, he approached a man near the railroad depot with the intention of serving a warrant for his arrest.
