In the summer of 1975, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Ronnie Smith, a 25-year-old male, was killed by a gunshot wound to the neck in the early morning hours of July 28, 1975. The events leading to his death began to unfold at a local venue, Lue's Supper Club, where Smith was seen late on the night of July 27th.
Witnesses recall seeing Smith at the club, as well as two other men, Carneil Lamar Davis and Garonski Goodlow, in the parking lot.
Later that night, Smith was observed having a conversation with another individual outside the club before the fatal incident occurred.
Following an investigation into the shooting, Carneil Lamar Davis was arrested and charged with the murder of Ronnie Smith. During the subsequent trial, testimony revealed that Davis had been seen with a. 38 caliber Colt revolver on the night of the murder. A witness later testified that while in jail, Davis admitted to shooting Smith over a dispute involving money. Further investigation uncovered a. 38 caliber bullet and an empty holster at Davis's residence.
Ultimately, a jury found Carneil Lamar Davis guilty of Murder in the Second Degree for the death of Ronnie Smith. He was sentenced to a term of no less than ten years to life in prison for his role in the crime.
