In the early days of March 1997, a grim discovery was made in a shed near Melrose, Kansas, just a few miles north of the Oklahoma border. The bodies of 33-year-old Harmon Samuel Fenton and his girlfriend, Sarah Palmer, were found in the bed of a pickup truck. Both had been shot to death. The couple, who resided in Commerce, Oklahoma, located in Ottawa County, had been reported missing for more than a week before their remains were located.
