On the evening of January 3, 2016, at a modest apartment complex in southeast Tulsa, 19-year-old Kyle Stapleton, a White/Caucasian male from the city he called home, found himself hosting what was supposed to be a routine visit from acquaintances. The setting was the Cobblestone Apartments in the 4900 block of South 76th East Avenue, just off the busy corridor near 51st and Memorial, where the glow of streetlights and apartment windows blended into the winter darkness.
