In the summer of 2017, a tragedy unfolded in Lawton, Oklahoma, that cut short the life of a young woman. Shaquilla 'Skie' Martinez, a 24-year-old female, was found dead in a residence on Northwest Euclid Avenue on June 22, 2017. Her life was taken by a fatal gunshot wound to the head in what authorities described as a violent home invasion or robbery. This incident marked the fifth homicide in Lawton for that year.
