In the quiet farming town of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, the holiday season of 2017 was irrevocably marked by tragedy. Wallace Bointy Jr., a 38-year-old man and a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, was found dead on Christmas Day. The discovery prompted an immediate investigation led by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation who were called in to assist the Fort Cobb Police Department. The nature of Bointy's death was quickly deemed a homicide, casting a somber shadow over the community.
