In the fading daylight of an autumn evening in Oklahoma City, a life was tragically cut short, leaving a family to grapple with a sudden and violent loss. On October 23, 2020, Michael Morris, a 46-year-old Black / African American man, was shot and killed. The incident unfolded around 6:00 PM in a northeast Oklahoma City neighborhood, forever altering the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Responding to a call of a shooting victim, police arrived at the scene to find Morris
grievously wounded. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The initial investigation by the Oklahoma City Police Department pointed to a dispute that had escalated to a fatal confrontation.
In the days that followed, detectives worked to piece together the events that led to the shooting. Their investigation quickly led them to identify a suspect in the case. An arrest warrant was issued for 29-year-old Deloveon Fulsom in connection with Morris's death. However, Fulsom was not immediately apprehended, and his whereabouts remained unknown for a period.
The search for Fulsom came to an end when he was located and taken into custody by a U.S. Marshals task force. He was subsequently booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of first-degree murder, facing the legal consequences of the events that transpired on that tragic October evening.
