In the late afternoon of April 10, 2022, the life of 29-year-old Shawn Wood, a white male, was tragically cut short in a residence at 350 S. Birch in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 4:54 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Wood inside the home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Alliance Health in Ponca City, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Ponca City Police Department swiftly launched an investigation into the homicide, and their attention soon turned to two individuals of interest: 30-year-old Logan Michael Peters, also known as 'Gunsmoke,' and 35-year-old Martha Elisabet Yahola, who went by 'Lisa.' Both were located the following day at a residence on South Palm and taken into custody. As the investigation progressed, however, Peters was cleared of involvement in Wood's murder.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a third individual, 19-year-old Joseph Greyhawk Delano Howe. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction. Yahola faced a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. In a turn of events, Yahola entered a no-contest plea to a charge of conspiracy and was sentenced to a 10-year suspended prison sentence. The case against Howe proceeded to trial, where a jury ultimately found him not guilty of the murder charge.
