Deputy Sheriff William Cooper of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin was tragically shot and killed on February 8, 1902, in Waterloo, Wisconsin. Cooper was attempting to arrest a man who had tried to shoot his ex-wife. During the arrest attempt, the suspect shot Cooper, leading to his untimely death.
