On a quiet Saturday evening, May 11, 1940, in the rural tranquility of Freedom, Wisconsin, a brutal act of violence shattered the peace of the farming community. Anna Weyenberg VanCamp, a 77-year-old White female, and her youngest son, 31-year-old William VanCamp, were ruthlessly murdered in their own home.
