She was fatally shot near 16th Street and North Avenue in an act that her family has described as domestic violence. Remembered by her loved ones as a beautiful and family-oriented individual, Kimotasha's sudden death sent ripples of grief through her community.
In the wake of the tragedy, her family, led by her
heartbroken mother, Michelle Perry, sought to honor her memory and raise awareness about the devastating impact of domestic violence. A vigil was held on November 6, 2019, where friends and family gathered to share their memories of Kimotasha and to make a plea for justice. Her mother spoke of the profound loss of her best friend and expressed a determined resolve to see justice served for her daughter.
