In the early morning hours of September 23, 2013, the life of 37-year-old Demetrius J. Grayson, a Black male from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was tragically cut short. Grayson was fatally shot in the 2800 block of N. 33rd St. The incident, which occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of 33rd and Hadley on the city's north side, was quickly classified as a homicide by Milwaukee police.
Demetrius Johndell Grayson was born in Milwaukee on June 8, 1976. Known affectionately as "Key Man" since the age of three because of his fascination with keys, he was a father to four children. He received his education in the Milwaukee Public Schools and was employed as a material handler and machine operator at different points in his life. His family remembered him as a loving father, son, and brother, who had accepted Christ at an early age.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Milwaukee Police Department launched an investigation into Grayson's death. However, in the days following the incident, authorities reported that no arrests had been made and that they were actively searching for suspects. The investigation into who was responsible for Demetrius J. Grayson's death has remained ongoing. To date, the case is still considered unsolved, and no suspect or suspects have been publicly identified or apprehended in connection with his murder.
