Frederick C. Martin, a 24-year-old resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, tragically lost his life on July 24, 2015. Martin was shot and killed at a convenience store near 9th and Center in Milwaukee. The medical examiner determined that Martin died as a result of a single gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The investigation into Martin's death led to the arrest and charging of
two individuals, Michael Williams and Tony Madison. Williams was found guilty by a jury of first-degree reckless homicide, as party to a crime, use of a dangerous weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the homicide charge and an additional five years for the firearm possession charge, to be served consecutively, totaling 45 years in prison with 15 years of extended supervision. Madison faced charges of first-degree intentional homicide, as party to a crime, use of a dangerous weapon, and harboring/aiding a felon. His trial was set to begin in September 2017.
Surveillance footage from the convenience store played a crucial role in the investigation. The video showed a sequence of events involving multiple vehicles and individuals, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting. Martin's vehicle was later found abandoned, adding to the complexity of the case.
The community mourned the loss of Frederick Martin, remembering him as a vibrant individual with a large personality. His funeral services were held on August 1, 2015, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Milwaukee. The case highlighted the ongoing issues of gun violence in the city and the impact it has on families and communities.
