In the early spring of 2015, the life of Henry Hodges, a 37-year-old Black / African American male, was violently cut short. On the evening of April 8th, in an alley in West Allis, Wisconsin, Hodges was found deceased by responding police officers. He had been fatally shot in what authorities would soon describe as a double shooting. A second victim, a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman who was with Hodges, also suffered a gunshot wound but managed to survive and seek help from a nearby residence,
which led to the discovery of the scene.
The subsequent investigation into the homicide revealed a harrowing sequence of events. According to the surviving victim, she and Hodges had been at a residence on the Northside of Milwaukee before being taken hostage. Their hands were tied, and their mouths were covered before they were driven to the alley in West Allis. The apparent motive for the abduction and subsequent violence was robbery, as the suspects were reportedly demanding money.
Authorities quickly identified a primary suspect in the brutal crime. The Milwaukee County District Attorney's office issued an arrest warrant for Alberto E. Rivera, a 36-year-old convicted felon. He was accused of fatally shooting Henry Hodges and attempting to kill the young woman who was with him. The investigation also indicated that Rivera did not act alone and had a male accomplice, though the second individual was not publicly named. The West Allis Police Department confirmed they had identified a suspect in the double shooting as their investigation continued.
