The fatal encounter occurred around 10 p.m. on September 13, 2015, near the corner of 37th and Ruby Avenue. What began as a fight between Jiles and another individual escalated tragically when a third person unexpectedly intervened, firing a gun.
The single gunshot struck Jiles, inflicting a mortal wound.
