In the early morning hours of July 12, 2018, a fatal encounter unfolded outside a tavern in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, claiming the life of 29-year-old Alain Lovaco Viniegra, a Hispanic male. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Grant Street. Lovaco Viniegra, a recognized muralist in the Milwaukee arts community, was involved in an argument with two other men.
The dispute escalated tragically when one of the men produced a firearm and shot Lovaco
Viniegra. He was transported to a local hospital with a serious gunshot wound but succumbed to his injuries later that morning. Friends of Lovaco Viniegra remembered him as a passionate artist with a "go-getter" attitude, known for his dedication and long hours contributing to the Walkers Point Creative Collective.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Milwaukee Police Department launched a homicide investigation and sought public assistance in identifying the individuals responsible. They released descriptions of two Hispanic male suspects. The first suspect was described as being in his early thirties, standing between 5'7" and 5'8" with a stocky build of around 240 pounds and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a green hat, a green soccer jersey, and green pants. The second suspect was described as being in his early twenties, between 5'9" and 5'10" with a clean-shaven face and a weight of approximately 160 pounds. He was also last seen wearing a green soccer jersey.
Witnesses reported that the two suspects fled the scene in a black Cadillac Escalade, model year between 2007 and 2014. The vehicle was noted to have what appeared to be removable magnetic signs on both rear passenger doors. A traffic camera captured this Escalade running a red light near the scene of the shooting. Despite the release of suspect descriptions and images, the police are still searching for the individuals involved in the death of Alain Lovaco Viniegra.
