On a spring afternoon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 22-year-old Jose Rodriguez was driving with his pregnant girlfriend, Lexi Rivera, when their lives were irrevocably changed. As they paused at the intersection of 27th and Hayes on May 3, 2019, another vehicle abruptly cut them off. A man inside, identified as 23-year-old Victor Cintron Jr., opened fire on their car.
