In the late hours of a summer evening in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the life of Dajun Williams, a 24-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On August 19, 2020, just before 10:30 PM, the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the area of 61st Street and 11th Avenue. When officers from the Kenosha Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered that Williams had been fatally shot.
He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Alongside Williams, a 13-year-old boy was also found to have been struck by the gunfire. The teenager was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The incident was part of a series of shootings that occurred in Kenosha on that same night, prompting a significant police response and public concern. Williams was remembered by his family as a loving and devoted father to his young son. His mother, Sheryl O'Bannon, has publicly expressed her profound grief and her fervent hope for justice for her son.
Despite the passage of time, the investigation into Dajun Williams' death remains an open and active case. The Kenosha Police Department has made public appeals for information, emphasizing that they believe numerous people were in the area at the time of the shooting who may have witnessed the events leading up to the incident or could have information about those responsible.
