In the late hours of a Saturday night in Madison, Wisconsin, the life of 17-year-old Jovan J. Freeny was tragically cut short. On August 14, 2021, the Black male teenager was attending a party near Camp Randall Stadium when he became the victim of a fatal drive-by shooting just before midnight. The promising young man, who was about to begin his junior year of high school, was an expectant father with his girlfriend due to give birth to a baby girl later that year.
