In the early morning hours of September 3, 2006, Jay Daniel Clements, a 21-year-old White male, was fatally shot in Brier, Washington. A senior at the University of Puget Sound, Clements was attending a house party when a dispute broke out between two groups of teenagers. Known for his peaceful nature, he attempted to intervene and de-escalate the conflict. It was during this act of peacemaking that he was shot in the chest.
