In the fading light of a December evening in Tacoma, Washington, a plan set in motion by a group of young men culminated in a tragic and fatal encounter. On December 9, 2018, Deonte Mitchner, a 21-year-old Black male, was shot and killed in an incident that began as a robbery he and his friends had orchestrated.
