On a summer afternoon in Kent, Washington, on July 17, 2019, a heated argument outside the Valli Kee Apartments tragically escalated, ending the life of 33-year-old Ciaira Belka. A female, Ciaira was a mother and an employee at Stafford Healthcare who had deep roots in the Seattle area, having attended West Auburn High School.
The devastating incident unfolded in the 23400 block of 104th Avenue Southeast, where both Ciaira and her son resided.
Following a verbal altercation, Ciaira was fatally shot in the head. The King County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed the cause of death.
The suspect in her death was identified as her 17-year-old son, Anthony Belka. After shooting his mother, Anthony turned the gun on himself, taking his own life. The case was determined to be a murder-suicide, and as a result, there were no other suspects sought and no arrests made in connection with Ciaira's death. The community was left to mourn the profound loss of both mother and son.
