Raymond George Graham, a 56-year-old man from Wapato, was discovered late Sunday morning on March 15, 2020, at a property along the 1300 block of North Track Road, just north of town near Renegade Raceway. Deputies said he had likely been dead for less than 12 hours when a passerby found him, and the scene was immediately treated as a homicide. The location fell on Yakama Nation land, bringing tribal police into the response alongside county investigators.
An autopsy conducted shortly after the discovery determined that Graham died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities identified him publicly in the days that followed as Raymond Graham of Wapato.
Detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy the next day, and booked him on a murder charge after, according to the Sheriff’s Office, he admitted to killing Graham. Prosecutors indicated the teen would be tried as an adult. Initial reports did not release the suspect’s name because of his age at the time, and investigators continued to process evidence gathered from the scene on North Track Road.
