On the evening of May 5, 2023, a sense of normalcy in a Wapato, Washington neighborhood was shattered by sudden violence. Charlie Jimenez, a 35-year-old man, was standing in the front yard of a residence on Wasco Avenue when the sharp report of gunfire echoed through the street. Two vehicles had pulled up, and from within them, a barrage of shots was fired directly at Jimenez, striking him multiple times in the leg, abdomen, and chest.
