On July 27, 2020, 17-year-old Brice Armstrong was tragically killed in a shooting at Steel Lake Park in Federal Way, Washington. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m., when officers responded to reports of gunshots and yelling at the park. Upon arrival, they found Brice Armstrong, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the pelvis. Despite medical aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed his identity and ruled his death a homicide.
The shooting also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, including a 22-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and arm and was in critical condition. A 12-year-old boy, who was a bystander with his family, was also injured, suffering gunshot wounds to the abdomen and arm. Additionally, a 30-year-old man reported being shot later in the evening.
Preliminary investigations by Federal Way detectives revealed that the shooting stemmed from a fight between two men, Brice Armstrong, and the critically injured 22-year-old man. A 28-year-old woman, associated with the two men, was reported to have fired a gun during the altercation. She was subsequently arrested and booked into King County Jail, with a charging decision expected shortly after the incident. Detectives also considered the possibility that another person associated with the group may have fired a gun.
The investigation into Brice Armstrong's death is ongoing, with Federal Way police continuing to gather details and seek information from the public. No firearms have been recovered yet, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
