Therron D. Pittman, a Black/African American man, 45, was found in the early morning quiet of Memorial Day 2021, collapsed outside a house in the 200 block of East 27th Street in Vancouver, Washington. Officers responding to reports of gunfire around 5:25 a.m. discovered him in front of the residence; by week’s end the Clark County Medical Examiner identified him and determined he had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds, ruling the death a homicide.
The details offered no ready motive—only the stark geometry of a street, the hour before dawn, and a life ended at the curb.
In the months that followed, detectives with the Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation, and by September the department, working with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, appealed publicly for tips. The request was plain: help solve the killing of Therron Pittman, who was found dead outside that home on May 31, 2021. Authorities reported no arrests in the case, a status that left the file open and the neighborhood’s unanswered questions lingering in the air.
