On an otherwise quiet Saturday, August 28, 2021, the life of 39-year-old Maria Lynette Freeman Camara, a Black female, was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. Residing in Stanwood, Washington, Maria was visiting her boyfriend, 51-year-old Juan Anthony Brooks, at his apartment in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle.
