In the early morning hours of October 30, 2021, a distressing 9-1-1 call was made by a man in Yakima, Washington, reporting that he and his friend had been shot at by individuals in a car. The caller's friend, 34-year-old Jose Guillermo Cantu, a male, had been struck by the gunfire. Responding patrol officers discovered Cantu in an alleyway off of West Chestnut Avenue, unconscious and suffering from severe gunshot wounds.
