Kelly Vann, age 49, was shot and killed on July 1, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois. According to reports, the incident was related to gang violence involving the Latin Dragon street gang. Gustavo Mata, a member of the Latin Dragon Nation, was charged with the murder of Kelly Vann. Mata reportedly shot Vann because he mistakenly believed Vann to be a rival gang member. This act was allegedly committed in an attempt to elevate Mata's status within the gang.
