On the evening of Friday, May 18, 2012, Manuel “Isaac” Alvarado, a 27-year-old male, was fatally shot in his home at 4430 East Wood Street in Phoenix. The incident occurred at approximately 8:56 p.m. when two men came to his condominium near 40th Street and Broadway Road. Shortly after the men entered the residence, a struggle ensued over a handgun belonging to Alvarado, which was in plain view in the living room.
During the altercation, Alvarado was shot and killed.
His pit bull dog was also fatally shot by one of the assailants. In another room, Alvarado's mother and fiancée were held at gunpoint by the second suspect, preventing them from intervening. The suspects then fled the scene, taking Alvarado's firearm with them.
Authorities were called to the scene, where both Alvarado and his dog were pronounced deceased. The suspects were described as two Black males in their 20s. One of the men identified himself as 'Corey's brother,' though the significance of this name and any connection to Alvarado remains unknown to investigators. Police have stated that there is no indication that Alvarado was involved in any illegal activities. The case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.
