Detective John Robert Weiss, a 25-year-old officer with the Shively Police Department in Kentucky, tragically lost his life on February 12, 1986. Detective Weiss was engaged in an undercover narcotics investigation on the 2500 block of South Park Road when he was shot. Despite being able to return fire and wound his assailant, Detective Weiss succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
