On the cold winter night of January 20, 1991, in Stanford, Kentucky, a veteran police officer's life was tragically cut short. Patrolman Gary Elmer Kidwell, a 41-year-old male with 20 years of dedicated service to the Stanford Police Department, was conducting a routine traffic stop near the intersection of John Street and Goshen Road at approximately 11:15 pm.
