In the early morning hours of February 11, 2015, the life of 20-year-old Miracle Lindsey, a Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. A friend of Lindsey's placed a frantic call to 911 around 5 a.m. to report a shooting in the Portland neighborhood. When police arrived at the 400 block of North 26th Street, they discovered Lindsey behind a house, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The Louisville Metro Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into Lindsey's death, which marked the city's 14th homicide of the year. Investigators canvassed the scene and spoke with potential witnesses, but their efforts to identify a suspect or suspects proved fruitless. In the days and weeks that followed, no arrests were made in connection with the shooting, and the case grew cold, leaving a community on edge and a family searching for answers. A police spokeswoman noted that they were trying to determine if Lindsey was a resident of the area or just visiting at the time of the incident.
Known affectionately as 'Stink,' Miracle Lindsey was a young father who left behind a son, Miracle Lindsey Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Kate Lindsey, along with six sisters and two brothers. The investigation into his unsolved murder remains open, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
