In a tragic turn of events, a Louisville man's life was cut short in a fatal shooting. Thirty-year-old Johnny Buckley III, a male, was shot on April 9, 2015, in the Poplar Hills neighborhood. The incident occurred on Huntington Park Drive, where Buckley sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was immediately transported to University Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Buckley's condition was grave.
He succumbed to his injuries the following day and was pronounced dead on the evening of Friday, April 10, 2015. The cause of his death was determined to be complications arising from the single gunshot wound.
The investigation into the shooting led police to a suspect, 57-year-old Wayne L. Duke. Authorities apprehended Duke, who was initially charged with first-degree assault. Following Buckley's death, the charges against Duke were upgraded to murder. Duke was subsequently booked into Metro Corrections.
