On a tragic Saturday night in London, Kentucky, the life of 26-year-old Ashley Nicole Beckner was cut short in a violent encounter. The events of December 19, 2015, unfolded at a residence on Nature's Bend Road, about nine miles east of the city, where a domestic argument escalated into a fatal shooting.
Ashley and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Michael Allen, were at the home of Allen's father.
An argument broke out between the couple, leading Michael Allen to pull out a pistol and shoot Ashley multiple times, inflicting fatal wounds. In the immediate aftermath, Allen then turned his weapon towards his father, Charles Allen, firing at him. At the time, Allen's three-year-old daughter and stepmother were also in the home and nearby.
Reacting to the assault, Charles Allen retrieved a shotgun and fired at his son. Police later described his actions as self-defense. The shot resulted in fatal injuries to Michael Allen. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found both Ashley Beckner and Michael Allen deceased from gunshot wounds. The investigation into the incident concluded that Michael Allen was the perpetrator in Ashley's death, and no arrests were made in the case, as the subsequent shooting of Allen was determined to be an act of self-defense.
