A resident of Murray, Jennifer was a mother and the Marketing Director and a Teller at the Lake Chem Community Federal Credit Union. Her sudden disappearance on February 9, 2016, after leaving her workplace, set off a concerned search by her family and local authorities.
She was last seen driving her white Pontiac G6.
As the search for the missing woman continued, a troubling development emerged. On February 16, 2016, the Kentucky State Police issued a warrant for Jennifer's arrest. The charge was felony theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $10,000. It was alleged that she had embezzled a significant amount of money from her employer, with some reports suggesting the amount was over $300,000. The credit union acknowledged 'irregularities' in some of its records to its members.
The search for Jennifer Hicks concluded tragically on February 25, 2016. Her body was discovered inside a storage unit at Garland Rental Boat & Mini Storage in Murray. Inside the unit with her was also her car. The Calloway County Coroner conducted an autopsy and determined that Jennifer Hicks died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
