In the rural community of Hueysville, Kentucky, a violent altercation on the evening of Friday, April 15, 2016, left two men dead and another wounded. The tranquility of the Floyd County area was shattered when shots rang out, prompting a response from the Kentucky State Police. Upon their arrival at a residence, troopers discovered a grim scene with three individuals having sustained gunshot wounds.
Daniel Ronnie Harvill, a 30-year-old male, was one of the two men who tragically lost
their lives in the shooting. Alongside him, 33-year-old Rodney Keith Whitaker was also fatally wounded. A third man, 51-year-old Ricky Goble of Hueysville, was injured in the attack but fortunately, his injuries were not considered life-threatening and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Floyd County Coroner, Greg Nelson, later confirmed the identities of the deceased.
The investigation into the deadly shooting quickly led to a suspect. Ronnie Lee Hall, a 49-year-old resident of Floyd County, was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Harvill and Whitaker. He was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center following his arrest. While the specific motive for the shooting was not immediately released, one witness reported seeing an altercation take place shortly before the tragic events unfolded. The incident left the small community in shock and mourning the loss of two of its members.
