In the quiet community of Hueysville, Kentucky, the life of 33-year-old Rodney Keith Whitaker was tragically cut short on April 15, 2016. On that Friday evening, a violent altercation unfolded, resulting in a shooting that left two men dead and another injured. Whitaker, a resident of Hueysville, was one of the two fatalities in the incident that shook the small Floyd County town.
The shooting also claimed the life of 30-year-old Daniel Ronnie Harvill.
Another man, Ricky Goble, survived the encounter with gunshot wounds that were not considered life-threatening. The violent episode was not a random act of violence, according to investigators.
In the immediate aftermath of the shootings, Kentucky State Police launched an investigation and quickly identified a suspect. Ronnie Lee Hall, who was 49 years old at the time, was arrested in connection with the deadly incident. He was subsequently charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Whitaker and Harvill.
The investigation suggested that an altercation preceded the fatal shootings. Hall was taken into custody and held at the Floyd County Detention Center. The community was left to mourn the loss of two of its own as the legal process against the alleged perpetrator began to unfold.
