In the late summer of 2016, the life of Victor Villagomez-Duarte, a 24-year-old Hispanic man, was cut short in a violent encounter in Lexington, Kentucky. On the morning of September 5th, outside a Microtel Inn on Buena Vista Road, Villagomez-Duarte was shot in the right shoulder. He was rushed to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he fought for his life for two days before succumbing to his injuries on September 7, 2016.
