A promising future was tragically cut short for Nathaniel McNealy, an 18-year-old Black male from Louisville, Kentucky, who was fatally shot in the early morning hours of October 1, 2016. McNealy was in Lexington visiting friends who were attending the University of Kentucky. Just before 2 a.m., Lexington police were dispatched to a townhouse on Unity Drive following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a chaotic scene as a large party was taking place.
McNealy was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. According to police, their preliminary investigation indicated that an altercation had occurred during the party which ultimately led to the shooting.
