In the western part of Louisville, on February 2, 2017, the life of Joseph Ervin Bradford, III, a 32-year-old Caucasian male from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. Bradford, a U.S. Army veteran and a father of five, was found in an alley near 17th Street and Broadway, having succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained during an altercation in the 1100 block of Salem Alley.
Authorities believed his death was connected to a string of violent events that plagued the city around that time. Another man was shot and stabbed in a nearby location on the same day, leading investigators to suspect a possible link between the two incidents. In the course of their investigation, SWAT teams were deployed to pursue leads and execute a search warrant on a residence connected to the cases.
Despite these efforts and the presence of several strong leads, no immediate arrests were made in connection with Bradford's murder. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, and as of now, the case is unsolved. Louisville Metro Police have urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring closure to the family of Joseph Ervin Bradford, III.
