In a quiet corner of Green County, Kentucky, a day of youthful play took a tragic turn, ending the life of 12-year-old Dylan Bland of Campbellsville. On Saturday, May 20, 2017, the young male was at a residence on Busy Baker Road, near the Taylor County line, when a single gunshot echoed through the home.
Earlier that evening, around 6 p.m., Dylan and a 13-year-old friend were playing in the basement.
It was there that a firearm, initially thought by the youths to be a toy, was discharged. The shot struck Dylan, inflicting a fatal wound. He was rushed from the home to Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, but the efforts to save him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.

Dylan was a student at Taylor County Middle School, and his sudden and tragic death left his family, friends, and classmates in mourning.
